Book Review: Weird
In his latest book, pastor Craig Groeschel encourages Christians to be weird. Yes, that’s right! Groeschel points to the reality that normal isn’t working. Overworked, overstressed, and overwhelmed are normal these days. But God has something so much more meaningful than a “normal” kind of life: a rich life of devotion to Christ. Exploring important issues like time, money, relationships, sex, and values, Groeschel offers practical, biblical guidance to live weird. Groeschel’s primary purpose in writing the book is that “we’ve made lukewarm synonymous with normal.” This is a great read for anyone, but especially for those Christians who desire to rediscover a lost passion for God. The more we truly know Christ, the more weird we become; living counter-cultural, God-honoring lives. “Because you can’t settle for normal any longer. You can’t be normal, because you are getting to know the loving, grace-filled, all-powerful God of the universe. And as you come to know him, you’re becoming like him. The more you are like him, the more different you will be. Weird.”
